From The Director

Happy Halloween! We had a great day seeing all of our students in their costumes. They look fantastic and we are so impressed with their creativity. And speaking of creativity, the trunks for our Trunk or Treat were out of this world! We can see where our students get their innovative ideas! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this such a special day for our students.

We hope everyone has a fun and safe night, and we will see you on Monday!

Next Week’s Schedule

Thank you so much for your flexibility with our rescheduled conferences. Colorado weather sure makes planning things challenging!

Next Monday, November 4, and Thursday, November 7 will be early release days for parent/teacher conferences. Classes will end at 12:00pm, and afternoon carpool will begin at 12:10. If you are normally in the 3:10 – 3:20 pick-up window, please arrive between 12:10 – 12:20. The 3:20 pick up window will open at 12:20, and the 3:30 window will open at 12:30. Champions will be here at 12:00 both days for those who need child care. Please note there is no lunch period on early release days.

If you had previously signed up for a Tuesday conference, you will keep your original time but will come on Monday, November 4. If you had signed up for a Wednesday conference, you will come at your original time but on Thursday, November 7. If you are unable to come on the new day, please contact your child’s teacher. Please cancel your time on the Sign Up Genius so someone else can take your spot. If you need a new time slot, look for an open one and sign up. Contact your child’s teacher with any questions.

The Book Fair Continues!

Thank you to our librarian, Mrs. Wright, who was able to get our book fair extended for another week due to our rescheduled conferences and snow day. You will be able to shop in the Fair during your conferences next week!

Pictures Monday, November 4

Class pictures will be taken on Monday, November 4. If your student missed picture day, or if you would like your child’s photo to be re-taken, these will also be done on Monday. All students need to be in uniform.

Welcome, Mrs. White

Welcome with colorful brush strokes

We are pleased to announce that Heather White has accepted the position of technology teacher at PCK. She has been the substitute in technology since Mr. Marchetti left, and is now joining us permanently. Make sure to stop by the tech lab and introduce yourself the next time you are at the school.

It’s Butter Braid Time

We know our families love Butter Braids, and they are especially popular this time of year when people have guests in their homes, look forward to a holiday treat, or just want an easy breakfast on a snowy Saturday morning. If you would like to order a few Butter Braids to have on hand for the holidays, check your Thursday folder for the order form. You will also see that you can order Coda Coffee as well, and the Coda products make nice holiday gifts. Your Butter Braid and Coda Coffee orders will arrive before Thanksgiving.

Order forms and payments are due Thursday, November 14. Orders can be picked up at PCK on Thursday, November 21. If you have any questions, please contact Tricia Calandra at 303-517-5482 or cp4355@yahoo.com.  Thank you to our PTA for organizing this!

Square 1 Art Makes A Great Gift

Square 1 Art is back for another year of fun items featuring your student’s artwork. You should have received an art catalog this week so you can see the variety of options and order your items. These are memorable keepsakes that make wonderful holiday gifts. If you have questions about Square 1 Art, please contact Mrs. Barker. All orders are due by November 14.

Yearbook Cover Contest

The 2019-20 yearbook theme is “Adventure Awaits.” If your student has a great idea for a cover design depicting this theme, he/she can submit it to Mrs. Barker in the art room by November 4th.

Nominate A Staff Member Who Make A Difference

The Apple Awards are a way to recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of the excellent teachers and staff members in the Douglas County School District. Winners are based on nominations from students and parents, and these nominations mean the world to our staff. Each PCK staff member pours into our students every day, and they are truly encouraged by your nominations for this honor. Please take a moment to recognize a PCK staff member who has made a difference in your child’s life with a nomination for an Apple Award. There are awards for teachers as well as staff members such as our office staff, support staff, and aides. Thank you for taking a moment to show your appreciation with a nomination! Nominations are due by December 1.
