From the Director

We are back!  Our trip to Washington, D.C. for the National Blue Ribbon Award ceremony was exciting, humbling, and inspirational!  Exciting in that we were so very proud to represent the entire PCK community of staff, students and parents, and receive this prestigious award on behalf of the school.  During one of the sessions we learned that National Blue Ribbon Schools reflect one half of one percent of the top schools in America!  Wow, way to go PCK!!

We were also very humbled to be among so many other top performing schools here in America — to hear their stories of success, learn about their high-performing communities, and enjoy the passion for learning among their leaders and teachers. We attended sessions designed to facilitate sharing of best practices, and we met so many dedicated school leaders who believe to their very core that educating our youth is one of the most worthwhile endeavors anyone could be involved in!  We couldn’t agree more.

Finally, we were inspired!  Our luncheon keynote speaker, Sheila Harrity, in particular shared an amazing story about her school’s incredible turnaround —- from the lowest performing high school in her district, to one of the highest.  Worcester Tech’s unbelievable transformation over an eight year period provided ample ideas and inspiration for all the school leaders in attendance.  Worcester Tech even had President Obama give the keynote speech at their graduation ceremony last year, and stay to personally hand out the diplomas!  The creativity, passion, perseverance and dedication she showcased through her school’s incredible story re-energized our thinking about PCK.  We are a school of excellence, but there is always more to do.  Today, as we celebrate with our students at an all-school assembly, we want them to know…and to truly believe…that they can do or be anything they want if they have a vision for their future and are willing to work hard to achieve it!  Education is the key and the foundation that opens all doors in our students’ future.

Congratulations to EVERYONE who has been, and currently is a part of the amazing, hard-working, dedicated community called Parker Core Knowledge! We are so proud of you!

2016 Annual Giving Campaign – November 1st – 22nd

Last week we asked “How much is a PREMIER education at PCK worth?”  Is one year of PREMIER education at PCK worth one ticket to a professional sporting event?  How much would you have paid for a ticket to watch the Broncos in the Super Bowl?  Is one year of PREMIER education for your child worth one ticket to one professional sporting event?  After pondering those questions, click here to make your annual donation.  We want EVERY PCK family to take ownership in the success of our school.   We are truly grateful for your continued generosity and support of our school.

Turkey Collection – Monday

Again this year, the Halker family will be collecting frozen turkeys for the Denver Rescue Mission (12 lbs or more).   The turkeys can be dropped off in morning carpool on Monday or during the day to an outside cooler by the front entrance.  The Halker family has orchestrated this “turkey drive” each year for 6 years and collected many, many turkeys to distribute to needy families.  Thanks for your generosity!
