From the Director
Raising kids of strong character is an important job for any parent, but where do you go for help, guidance and new ideas? Most parents default to the way they were raised, which, depending on your personal family circumstance, may or may not serve you well as a guide.
As part of our Parent Education Series, PCK is pleased to host Mr. Kent Fahrenbruck on November 30th at 6:00 p.m. in the MS Commons. Mr. Fahrenbruck has been a key character resource for us here at school. He is a member of the Strata Leadership team (formerly the Character First organization) in Colorado, and he travels throughout Colorado and the world delivering character training to various organizations. Kent and his wife raised and home schooled five children, and they now enjoy spending time with their 12 grandchildren. Kent is excited to meet with PCK parents who are interested in beefing up their character development efforts at home.
‘Raising kids of character’ is the topic of Mr. Fahrenbruck’s presentation on November 30th. He will present core elements of an effective character development strategy, and he will showcase Virginia Dennison Smith’s new handbook for parents and teachers,’Raising Positive Kids in a Negative World’. The topic and resources presented are sure to be of interest and benefit to all PCK parents.
I hope you will join me for this informative presentation. And, because I believe all PCK parents will benefit from Mr. Fahrenbruck’s personal experience and wisdom, I would like to add an additional incentive for you to attend. I will give a Dress Down Day of Choice certificate to every parent who attends this presentation.
Please RSVP to Ms.Sara.

2016 Annual Giving Campaign – November 1 – 22 . . . ONLY 6 Days left!
We are so thankful to the families that have already supported our campaign. It is our hope that EVERY family is as thankful for our Blue Ribbon School as the families that have already supported us. Being a Blue Ribbon School means that we are in the top one half of one percent of schools in the United States! This pretty much designates us as the PREMIER P-8 school in Douglas County.
However, we want EVERYTHING about our school to be PREMIER. The annual giving campaign helps us purchase items that are not covered in our operating budget. In the past, we purchased Apple/Mac mobile computer carts, Chrome Books, security cameras, signage and other PREMIER items for our school. How much do you pay per month to drive your PREMIER car? Will you consider giving the same amount to your child’s PREMIER school? We are truly grateful for your continued generosity and support of our school.

PTA Reloadable Gift Cards

Are you using your King Soopers/Safeway reloadable gift cards? Remember this is a NO COST and easy way to give back to our school. PCK earns 5% on all monies loaded. The fundraising possibilities are limitless! We all have to eat and put gas in our cars. If all of our PCK families spent $500 a month at the grocery store using their reloadable gift cards this would net $138,000 annually to our school!! Currently only 6% of PCK families participate. PLEASE consider this NO COST and easy way to give back to our school.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner! What a great gift for a family member. Please see Ms. Sara at the front office to purchase additional cards ($2.50 each). If you have any questions about this program please contact Yvette Fonda at (303)257-5579 or yfonda@helmsbriscoe.com
