From The Director

PCK loves Veterans! Monday, November 11th is the official observance of Veterans Day here in America, but tomorrow, Friday, PCK students and staff will honor our veterans with a special morning assembly and hall walk. Every year we invite the veterans within our community to join us for a time of recognition, appreciation and remembrance. This year, our students will be involved in every aspect of the assembly, including a special reading by Carly Anderson from her award-winning essay about ‘Why I’m Proud to be an American.’ Several other students will also share personal essays about freedom. Additionally, many of our students were asked to answer the question: Why I’m grateful for our military. Their essays are featured in the front lobby of our school. Finally, there will be two special musical performances by our 6th grade choir, and we will end our assembly with a hall walk of honor for our veterans. Students will officially celebrate Veterans Day on Monday, November 11th with a red, white & blue dress down day fundraiser, with all proceeds benefiting Homes for Our Troops.

The unprecedented life, liberty, and freedoms we all enjoy and cherish here in America are the direct result of countless selfless actions by our brave veterans. On behalf of the entire PCK staff and school community, we are eternally grateful for the sacrifices made on behalf of all Americans by our veterans, and we honor the memory of all who have served in our nation’s armed forces. We also extend our thanks to the brave men and women within our community who are currently serving in our country’s military. America is truly “the land of the free and the home of the brave!”  Thank you, Veterans!

Today Is The Last Day For The Book Fair

Stop by our book fair until 7:00 tonight. The fair will be open during conferences, before our parent education session on helping students manage anxiety, or for anyone who wants to come by to take a last look around. Don’t miss it!

Next Monday, November 11, we will hold a red, white, and blue dress down day fundraiser for Homes For Our Troops. This organization builds and adapts homes to meet the needs of soldiers injured in the line of duty. Students can dress down in patriotic colors for a donation of $1 or more. All proceeds will go to Homes For Our Troops.

It’s Butter Braid Time

We know our families love Butter Braids, and they are especially popular this time of year when people have guests in their homes, look forward to a holiday treat, or just want an easy breakfast on a snowy Saturday morning. If you would like to order a few Butter Braids to have on hand for the holidays, check your Thursday folder for the order form. You will also see that you can order Coda Coffee as well, and the Coda products make nice holiday gifts. Your Butter Braid and Coda Coffee orders will arrive before Thanksgiving.

Order forms and payments are due Thursday, November 14. Orders can be picked up at PCK on Thursday, November 21. If you have any questions, please contact Tricia Calandra at 303-517-5482 or cp4355@yahoo.com.  Thank you to our PTA for organizing this!

Square 1 Art Makes A Great Gift

Square 1 Art is back for another year of fun items featuring your student’s artwork. You should have received an art catalog this week so you can see the variety of options and order your items. These are memorable keepsakes that make wonderful holiday gifts. If you have questions about Square 1 Art, please contact Mrs. Barker. All orders are due by November 14.

The Annual Giving Campaign is in full swing and we really appreciate all of your generous donations. Please check your mailboxes for information about this year’s campaign and pledge cards. This is the second of three fundraisers The Foundation does each school year. Our goal for this fundraiser is to raise $50,000. For each $75 donation you give, your name will be entered into a drawing for a parking spot for a month! We hope you had a chance to check out our posters at parent/teacher conferences showcasing some of the amazing educational tools these fundraisers provide for our PCK kids.

Donations can be sent in with your pledge cards or done online here:  https://thefoundationatpck.revtrak.net
