From The Director
Dear PCK Families,
As our first semester in the 20-21 school year winds down, I just want to say that I am so incredibly proud of the entire PCK community! In spite of everything (COVID), our combined efforts prevailed and allowed us to keep the school open for in-person learning for all but seven days this past semester! What a fantastic accomplishment, and a true ‘win’ for our students. Thank you for trusting us to maintain a safe and healthy school environment for all, thank you for the grace you extended and the flexibility you so readily demonstrated, and thank you for your diligence in monitoring health issues and keeping us informed throughout the semester. I am very hopeful that 2021 will bring some much-anticipated relief on the COVID front, and I know we are all encouraged by recent news of vaccines arriving in Colorado. What a gift for all!
This holiday season is bound to be different for everyone. Many of us will forego the usual holiday parties and large celebrations in an effort to maintain our health and protect those we love. As I was driving to work this morning, and enjoying the spectacular sunrise that unfolded before me, I was struck by this thought: The essence of what makes our season bright…any year…is LOVE, HOPE and PEACE. If we are spending time with those we LOVE, this is a gift to be treasured. If we look ahead to the possibility of a new year, and all the promise it may hold, then we have HOPE. And, finally, if we allow ourselves to relax, let go of old expectations that our holiday season must look/be this way or that, and enjoy the gift of each new day, then we may just find PEACE in this otherwise crazy year we’ve all endured. My wish for all PCK families this holiday season is that you enjoy the true gifts of the season…LOVE, HOPE, and PEACE.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy, and restful holiday season. See you next year – 2021!
Wishing Everyone A Healthy Break
We hope everyone stays healthy, but if any student or family member tests positive for COVID over winter break, please email our school nurse, Debbie Smith, at email@example.com with the date symptoms started and the date of the positive test. This will help her assess the health of our community before returning to school in January, and she will follow up with those affected to determine when their students can return to school.
Also, any time your student is absent (for any reason other than a scheduled break) please complete a student absence form. The form is available in the slider on our home page, or you can get it here. A form needs to be completed each day the student is absent from school.
A Sincere Thank You For Your Generosity
The members of our National Junior Honor Society want to thank the entire PCK community, with a special shout-out to 8th grader Kyle Newbrough, for last week’s amazing food drive benefiting the Parker Task Force. We brought so many boxes of food that the guys unloading our trucks at the Task Force said it looked like two schools worth of donations! It took six people 20 minutes to unload all of our donations. Wow! Our families came through in a huge way to support our Parker community, and we are PCK Proud! Thank you for your generosity and support. It will make a difference to a lot of families this holiday.
Fantastic Focus Groups
Earlier this month we hosted grade-level focus groups to connect with our community and answer parent questions. If you were not able to participate, you can watch the recording of the 1st/2nd grade call here, or the middle school call here. Regardless of your child’s grade level, these recordings answer most parent questions. You can also read common questions and answers here.
Students can track Santa on Christmas Eve, discover traditions and customs in other countries, learn coding with Santa’s elves, play games, and more on Santa Tracker. Have fun!
Connecting With Character
This week, many classes made cards to spread holiday cheer to those in a senior assisted living center. The sweet messages of love and adorable drawings from our students will surely brighten the season for those receiving them.

Meet Our Principals For The Day
Third grade twins Mikaela and Chloe Sears are sharing the role of Principal For The Day this week. Mikaela has the job today, and Chloe takes the reins tomorrow. They get to do fun things like give our morning announcements over the PA system, help at carpool, and have lunch with Mrs. Aplin. Their parents placed the winning bid on this fun experience in the Foundation’s silent auction earlier this year. Thanks for doing a great job, girls!
A huge THANK YOU to the PTA for providing our staff with lunch from Chick-fil-a last Friday, and to all of the parents who donated drinks for the meal. It was a perfect way to end a busy week, and we are so appreciative of your generosity and thoughtfulness. Thank you.
A heartfelt thanks goes to all of the parents who baked cookies for our wonderful “cookie bar” on Wednesday. The cookies were amazing and we appreciate all the time, effort, and love that went into this project. Thank you!
We appreciate the Pettinato family for bringing in delicious fresh fruit for our staff. It was nice to have some healthy treats in the mix!
Thank you to the Johnson family for giving our day a bright start with coffee and chocolates. Yum! These treats gave us a nice boost as we wrap up the semester.
There aren’t enough “thank yous” to cover the Goettsch family for bringing our staff a delicious lunch from Torchy’s Tacos today. We are overwhelmed by your generosity and thoughtfulness. We appreciate you!
