From The Director
’Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the school, not a student or teacher was stirring…because they were all tucked away in their homes enjoying their holiday break!
On behalf of the entire staff, we wish all PCK families a wonderful holiday season filled with laughter, fun, and special memories with family and friends. Be safe, stay warm, and we will welcome you all back after a long winter’s nap (break) on January 8th.
Please Check Our Lost And Found
We don’t want anyone to be without a coat, sweatshirt, hat, gloves, or other cold-weather gear over the holiday break. Please come check our lost and found by 4:00 tomorrow to claim what is yours. Items left in lost and found over the break will be donated in our regular end-of-the-month donation. Please also remember to write your child’s first and last name on all outerwear, lunch boxes, water bottles, sports balls, etc.
Dress Down Day Tomorrow
December 21 is a dress down day for the last Friday of the month that we have school.
We love seeing our former students, and they like stopping by to visit when they don’t have school. This Friday, Douglas County high schools have the day off, but, unfortunately, this is not a good day for us to have visitors. We have an action-packed day with holiday programs and parties, and our staff is unable to supervise student visitors. If you are a parent of a former PCK student, please let your child know we are happy to see him/her and hear all about high school another time. Please also remind your child that student guests always need to be sponsored by a staff member who agrees to supervise the visit. Happy Holidays!
Please save empty wrapping paper tubes and old calendars you are done with for the Art Department. Your student can bring them to art class after the break. Thank you!
Tech Talk With Mr. Robbins
Parents, if your child is getting new technology/a new device of any kind for Christmas, you don’t want to miss this month’s letter from Mr. Robbins. See his great idea here.
Fun in Tech Class
Our first grade students had fun learning how to use robots during tech class.

The PTA is hosting a fun mother/son event at PCK on Saturday, January 26th from 4:00-7:00 pm. “Dinner And Darts” will feature a dart war game, along with an obstacle course, games, and dinner. Put it on your schedule today – you won’t want to miss the fun!
Introducing My School Bucks
When you click on PCK Web Stores to make a school purchase, you will see something new. We joined DCSD in transitioning from RevTrak to My School Bucks for processing payments on things like field trip fees, lunch beverage cards, after-school activities, athletics, and more.
You will need to create a My School Bucks account (unless you already have an account for a student in a neighborhood school, then you just need to add your PCK student to your account) using your student’s name and either birthday or student ID number. Click here for instructions on how to set up an account.
PLEASE CONTINUE ORDERING LUNCHES THROUGH WHOLESOME FOOD SERVICES, NOT MY SCHOOL BUCKS. You will see an option for “Meal Accounts” in My School Bucks, but this is only for schools using DCSD Nutrition Services for their lunch provider. PCK only uses Wholesome Food Services, so lunches must be ordered through them directly.
Nominate An Outstanding Teacher/Staff Member For The NEW Apple Awards
DCSD recognizes exceptional teachers and staff members across the District with the Apple Awards. This year there is a new, easier nomination process, and a celebration for the nominees that honors their hard work and achievement in a fun way. Get the details on the new process here. You can nominate a PCK teacher or staff member who has made a difference in your child’s life at www.foundationdcs.org/nominate until January 11, 2019.
Girls Summer Camp Registration Is Open
All girls who will be in 6th – 8th grade next year are invited to register for Shine Girl Summer Camp. This program is designed to help middle school girls build self esteem, self advocacy skills, confidence, trust, and good friendships. Get morning information, including registration details, here or at goshinegirl.com.
Did You Know…
PCK has earned the John Irwin School of Excellence Award every year since our inception. The John Irwin awards are given to schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement over time. These schools received an Exceeds Expectations rating for exceptional performance in Math, English Language Arts, and Science.
You can learn more about the award here.
Congratulations, All Star!
Swimmer Victoria Holck (7th grade) was selected to be on the All Star Team for Team Colorado. All Stars team selection is the highest honor an age group swimmer can achieve in Colorado. Only ten 11-12 year old girls and boys (along with ten girls and boys from the 9-10 and 13-14 age groups) are selected each year to represent their state in competition against the very best from six other states.
Victoria competes January 18-20, 2019. Congratulations, Victoria!
A big, heartfelt thank you goes to the Ogren family for the tub of popcorn, the McKee Family for the cake balls, the Gandolph family for the plate of goodies, and the Langton, Miller, and Groetken families for the chocolates, the Aguirre family for the baked goods, and the Denicolo family for the Christmas cookies, the Weddig family for the Duffey rolls, the Pettinato family for the snacks, and the Banwart family for the basket of goodies.
We truly appreciate the delicious treats, and we thank you for thinking of us this time of year.
