From The Director

It is my pleasure to congratulate our two Apple Award nominees, Heather Puckett and Sara Mundt. The Apple Awards honor exceptional DCSD educators and staff who go above and beyond to inspire a love of learning in students, bring innovation to our schools, and serve students in exemplary ways. Both Mrs.Puckett and Mrs. Mundt certainly meet, if not exceed, this criteria.

Let me introduce you to Mrs. Puckett: Heather Puckett is a sixth grade teacher who has been at PCK for 12 years. She particularly loves reading and teaching reading. One of the several parents who nominated Mrs. Puckett for an Apple Award said, “Mrs. Puckett engages her students, gives generously of herself, and respectfully meets students at their level. She not only appears to love the subjects that she teaches, but she loves her students. She is organized, knowledgeable, and invested.” If you ask Mrs. Puckett about her nomination, here’s what she says, “I am truly honored to be the PCK Apple Award teacher nominee. I love teaching and it means so much to be recognized for my dedication to this job. I sincerely appreciate the recognition from our amazing parents and staff.”

Everyone knows ‘Miss Sara.’ She is, hands down, the most loved member of our staff… just ask our students! Officially, Miss Sara is our beloved Health Assistant/Student Services Specialist and has worked at PCK for over 21 years. In her nomination of Sara Mundt, one parent wrote, “Sara is such a bright light, and seemingly never runs out of energy. She is always so kind, helpful and patient, even when she has heard the same question ten thousand times. She is a friend and trusted resource.” When asked about being PCK’s classified Apple Award nominee for the second time, Miss Sara simply said, “When you love your job… kids and coworkers… and THEN get recognized, it’s truly a blessing!”

Both of our 2020 nominees will be honored at the Apple Awards Reveal Party this Saturday night, February 29th. Please join me in congratulating two very deserving PCK nominees. I so appreciate the time many of you took to recognize Mrs. Puckett and Mrs. Mundt, along with many of the other very talented and hard working PCK staff members who make a difference to your child each and every day.

Help Your Daughter Handle Girl Drama

arrows form a circleOur Parent Education Series continues on Thursday, March 5 at 6:30pm with a session on Helping Your Daughter Handle Girl Drama. Because girls typically place a high value on relationships, they often experience conflict, hurt feelings, and “drama.” Learn how to guide your daughter through these situations in a way that helps her build strong conflict resolution skills, as well as good friendships. This session is led by Dianne Daniels, PCK Character Coach.

Please RSVP here if you plan to attend. Remember, you can log one hour of volunteer time for every Parent Education Series session you attend.

Promote Your Business At The Gala Auction

The Foundation greatly appreciates the support and generosity shown by so many PCK Families and their businesses. As of yesterday afternoon, all of the Gala sponsorships over the $250 level have been filled! Please follow us on Facebook @foundationatpck for special offers from our sponsors and updates on the event.

We need auction items! We are trying to shake things up again this year and the online auction format is just the start. We’ll be advertising items earlier than ever, making this an excellent way to promote your goods and services to PCK families. Your donations are tax deductible AND count towards your volunteer hours.

Due to popular demand, we opened up a few more VIP tables at this year’s event. Don’t forget to get your tickets while early bird pricing is still available.

Sponsor Spotlight

Dear PCK Families,

I’m Janet Brunner with Keller Williams Action Realty and a member of the PCK Foundation.

My real estate team, The Brunner Bunch, is proud to sponsor the Wine Toss Game at The Spring Gala & Auction again this year. It’s a fun event and a wonderful way to help raise funds for our award-winning school.

We have an 8th grader, Ally, and a 2nd grader, Jack, who are thrilled to be part of the PCK community. I’ve been a realtor for nearly 20 years and have had the great pleasure of helping many PCK Families buy and sell their homes. I would love to help you with your real estate needs.

A portion of my commission with PCK families will go back to our school as a thank you for your trust and business.

The 4th and 6th grade teachers and students would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Jonathan Quint, DVM. Last week, Dr. Quint and his fantastic assistants, Millie and Tarpon, gave a presentation in the elementary science lab on dogs and veterinary medicine. The children thoroughly enjoyed this informative presentation and loved getting to pet Dr. Quint’s furry helpers.
