See You At Tokyo Joe’s Tonight

Tonight, February 20, we have a Spirit Night at the Tokyo Joe’s at Lincoln and Parker Road from 4:00 – 8:30pm. When you enjoy your dinner out, make sure you mention PCK to the cashier so the school gets a portion of the proceeds.

We Need Your Newspapers

Our Science Lab is in need of newspaper for an upcoming experiment. Please have your student drop off any extra newspapers you may have in the Elementary Science Lab tomorrow or Monday. Any newspaper is fine – we need lots of them! Thanks for your help.

Get Out Your Dancing Shoes

Tickets are now on sale for the father/daughter dance next Saturday, February 29, from 6:00 – 8:00pm at PCK. Tickets must be purchased here in advance; they will not be available at the door.

We still need volunteers to help with set up and clean up, so please click here to sign up to help.

It Is Time To Get Festive

The International Festival is next Friday, February 28, so get ready for Mariachi music, Indian dancing, delicious food samples, and more fun. Students will visit the Festival during the school day, but the whole family can come experience it from 4:00 – 6:00pm in the Events Gym. You won’t want to miss it!

Help Your Daughter Handle Girl Drama

arrows form a circleOur Parent Education Series continues on Thursday, March 5 at 6:30pm with a session on Helping Your Daughter Handle Girl Drama. Because girls typically place a high value on relationships, they often experience conflict, hurt feelings, and “drama.” Learn how to guide your daughter through these situations in a way that helps her build strong conflict resolution skills, as well as good friendships. This session is led by Dianne Daniels, PCK Character Coach.

Please RSVP here if you plan to attend. Remember, you can log one hour of volunteer time for every Parent Education Series session you attend.

A Mountain of Thanks

Thank you SO much to Maddox Kurtz (5th grade), his dad, Robert Kurtz, as well as Nathanael Koch and Randy Dose (father and grandfather of Sam and Owen Koch) for plowing the snow from the blacktop in our back yard on Saturday. What a huge help it is to have that space cleared for recess! We know it was a big job – the mountains of piled up snow show us just how much you moved. We are very appreciative of the time you took to help us, and all of our students and staff say, “Thank you!”

Sponsor Spotlight

Hi PCK Families!

We are glad to be a repeat sponsor for the Spring Gala – the best party we go to all year! My wife, Lauren, and I love PCK and are grateful to be involved in its support alongside all of you. After directing corporations and private equity funds on over $1 billion worth of transactions in my career, I’ve begun to transition to investment advisory to individuals and families through Ascendance Wealth. Tax season is upon us, and there’s usually no better time to reassess, renew, or even launch a thorough evaluation of your financial future. In addition, I’m offering $50 cash for each PCK family who provides their brokerage statements for my research, which should offer you clear guidance on how you can save money, increase your potential for greater returns, or both! All information is completely confidential.

Reach me at clay@ascendancewealth.com or call / text 303.264.4797.

Calling All Teachers

We are looking for substitute teachers. If you have a teaching license and a CDE Sub license, you can apply through our website. If you do not have a license and are wondering if your experience might qualify you to be a substitute, please contact Heather Newbrough.

Double Check Your Volunteer Hours

Please take a minute to log into Raptor to double check your volunteer hours. If your total is incorrect, please contact the front desk. All PCK families agree to donate 20 volunteer hours each school year.

Coffee Chat With Mrs. Aplin Rescheduled

Since our last Coffee Chat was canceled due to a delayed start, all PCK parents are now invited to an informal Coffee Chat on Tuesday, February 25 at 8:15am in the Middle School Commons. This is a time to ask questions and hear about things happening around the school. There is no set agenda – you are free to ask any questions you like about PCK, or just come listen to the discussion.

We Still Need CMAS Snacks

image of snack food packagesOur students love getting special snacks during CMAS testing, coming up after Spring Break. Please see this Sign Up Genius to volunteer to bring snacks. Remember that every $25 you spend on your donation counts as a volunteer hour.

Rewarding Perseverance

On Monday, March 2, Chick-Fil-A is donating 10% of the day’s proceeds  to the DCSD Perseverance Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is for high school students who have shown resiliency and perseverance through a great hardship in order to graduate. Please mention this flier when you pay at any Douglas County Chick-Fil-A to help support this scholarship fund.

Thank You, Safety Dads!

Thank you to those who volunteered to Stand Up For Safety this week: Thomas Albershardt, Josh Rein, and William Danner. We are truly grateful for the time you spent helping us.

A special shout-out also goes to William Danner for always being so friendly to our carpool workers. His big smile and kind greeting mean a lot to those doing a tough job. Thank you!
