From The Director
PCK Parent Volunteers are some of the BEST in Colorado! Every year I am humbled by the cheerful willingness of our parents to jump in and fill various roles and needs around the school. From stuffing Thursday folders every week, to helping with school-wide events/activities, coaching teams or working at the book fair, and serving on the Foundation, Board of Directors, PTA or SAC, PCK parents consistently answer the call to help us meet any number of needs that arise throughout the year. I often wonder where we would be without this generous and sacrificial support, and I so appreciate all you do for our school.
By now, many of you are well on your way to (or even finished with) your annual 20 hour/year volunteer commitment, and others are working diligently to finish by the end of the school year. Yet, there are still others who need help plugging in and may struggle to complete the requirement by year end. To those who are done or close to being done, a huge THANK YOU for a job well done! Your contributions have made/continue to make a difference for our students. And, for those who need some help getting to 20, here are a few pressing needs:
–Lunchroom volunteers are desperately needed M-F. To sign up, simply click here.
–Art Volunteers – several slots have opened up and extra hands are always needed. If you are unable to come for the time slot you signed up for, please remove your name from the Sign Up Genius so others can fill the spot.
-25th Anniversary Celebration Team – newly forming to plan and organize the end-of-year celebration. Contact Laura Parkes at 303-840-7070.
-Donations of snacks for CMAS testing – for every $25 spent you earn one volunteer hour. You can sign up here.
-Donations of Kleenex — cold and flu season is still in full swing and our supplies are depleted. Again, you can log one hour for ever $25 spent.
-PTA events — the PTA has several school events planned between now and the end of May. Please contact Jennifer Maxwell (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like to help out with PTA events.
-The PCK Gala is April 12th. Donations and volunteers to help are still needed. Please contact Cindy Whitmore (email@example.com) if you would like to help with the Gala.
These are just some of the upcoming volunteer opportunities still available through April. There is also Field Day and many other end-of-the year activities/events scheduled for May, so check the Thursday news for new opportunities each week.
Finally, and I know this can be the hardest part, please remember to log your volunteer hours. This is very important to us as we regularly track total volunteer hours year to year, and we like to be able to thank all of our volunteers for a job well done.
On behalf of the entire PCK staff, THANK YOU for volunteering at PCK. Your time is extremely valuable, and there are many places you could choose to spend your energy, yet you choose to spend it here. For that we continue to be most grateful!
Don’t Miss Tonight’s Spirit Night
We have a Spirit Night at both the Parker Panera and Orange Leaf tonight from 4:00pm – 9:00pm. Enjoy a delicious dinner at Panera, then walk over to Orange Leaf for a tasty frozen yogurt treat. Be sure to mention PCK at both restaurants so we get a portion of the proceeds. See you there!
Dress Down Day Tomorrow
Tomorrow is the last Friday in February so our students can enjoy a free dress down day. Please remember to follow the dress down day dress code.
Send In Your Water Bottles and Caps On Monday
If you have been collecting water bottles and caps for the Art Department’s Earth Day projects, you can send them in on Monday. Please take off the labels and send only clean bottles. There will be a trash can in the main lobby where kids can drop off their bottles and caps. Thank you for your help!
News From The Foundation At PCK
You may have noticed our Teacher Grant Program sign as you walk through the front door at the school. Through your generous support and donations, we are pleased to be able to offer this bi-annual grant program for the second year in a row. In the past year, this program has funded things such as heart rate monitors and new equipment for PE; a science lab table, power tools, and LEGO robotic kits for the middle school; new ipads for our Resource teachers; the Gaga Ball pit; and our upcoming International Festival! We are excited to see the innovative ideas our teachers, faculty and school-led club leaders present us with next month.
Gala planning is in full swing and we need donations for the silent auction (ie. time shares, restaurant and shopping gift cards, sporting event/show tickets, wine, sports memorabilia and more!) If you haven’t received a Sign Up Genius or other communication regarding Gala auction items needed for your child’s grade, please check with your classroom coordinator. Please send in your donations by March 1st. Donations can be dropped off at the front desk (please specify your child’s grade/class) or contact firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements for pickup.

To upload pictures:
- Click on the folder name where you wish to upload your photo.
For each grade, there are subfolders corresponding to the teacher.
- Click “Upload” at the top to transfer your photos.
- Now you can directly drag and drop your photos to the upload box or click “select them from your computer” to navigate to your stored photos on your personal computer and transfer them for viewing.
This is the only way your child’s activities are represented in the yearbook, so please share! Please contact Joey Dame at email@example.com with any questions.
Please Bring Your ID
As we roll out our new Raptor check-in system, we use your photo ID to get you set up in the program. Unfortunately, there are some parents who have been set up but the system did not capture your photo from your ID. Please bring your drivers license when you come to the school, even if you have presented it before, so we can make sure you are correctly and completely set up in the system. Thank you for your patience while we get this up and running!
Snack Donations Needed
Later this year we will start CMAS testing. Our students love getting snack breaks during their tests, so we need LOTS of donations to make this happen. You can help by signing up here.

Get Jumping For Kids Heart Challenge
The Physical Education Department has our annual Kids Heart Challenge (jump rope unit) in February. During this month-long unit, we partner with the American Heart Association to teach your students how to take care of their hearts and be heart healthy. Every year we conclude the unit with special Jump Rope Challenge Days on February 27 and 28. On these days we encourage students to dress down and donate to the American Heart Association. We ask for a one-time $10 donation (cash prefered) on Wednesday, February 27. Students will give their donations to their classroom teachers. All K-8 students may participate, and all donations go to the American Heart Association. We look forward to an exciting month of the Kids Heart Challenge.
