Thank you for your feedback on our recent mini-survey about Emergency Reunification. I want to share the survey results with you, and highlight a few changes we plan to make as a result of your feedback.  Obviously, we hope we never need to implement our emergency reunification process, but we believe the more ‘aware’ parents are about our process, the smoother it is likely to go…should we ever need it.  So, here’s what you said:

Are you aware of PCK’s Emergency Reunification plan? 37% – Yes
63% – No
Do you know where to find information about our Reunification plan? 30% – Yes
70% – No
Have you discussed emergency safety at school with your child(ren)? 53% – Yes
47% – No
Are you confident about the school’s safety procedures and preparedness? 57% – Yes
39% – Somewhat
4% – No
What additional information do you need? Multiple responses, ideas and requests

Based on your feedback, we will make a point to periodically remind parents throughout the year about our emergency reunification process, and to highlight where on our school website the information can be found.  Additionally, we will send home a paper copy of our emergency reunification map, with an overview of the process parents will following in a ‘live’ event, for you to keep and reference at home. This will go out in Thursday folders next Thursday.

I appreciate your feedback to our mini-surveys.  The data helps guide some of our decisions and improvement efforts.  Next week, you will receive another mini-survey asking for feedback about our new Behavior Consequence Matrix.  Again, I appreciate your candid feedback when you receive the link.

By working together, we will all be prepared to do our part in the event of an emergency here at school.  Helping parents know what our plan and process will be here at school is a very important step in that preparation.

PE this Month

As part of an ongoing unit in the Month of February in the Elementary School Physical Education classes, Mr. Bauer, Mr. Cruz, and Mr. Minshall have partnered with The AHA and Jump Rope for Heart to bring PCK students the knowledge and joy of being physically active and fit.  In celebration of this we would like the students to take part in two $5 Donation Dress Down Days to celebrate the end of their Jump Rope for Heart Unit.  All Students K-8 may donate and dress down on the two days, donating $5 per day to the American Heart Association. We ask students to please follow dress down day rules and guidelines. Jump Rope Dress Down Days are as follows:

All Grades Wednesday Feb 22, 2017

All Grades Thursday Feb 23, 2017

If you are willing, please allow your child(ren) to dress down on both days and give the $5 donation to benefit the AHA. All donations will be collected by the classroom teachers, and delivered to the PE teachers.

Thank you for your help in this process!

Mr. Bauer, Mr. Cruz, and Mr. Minshall

As a member of the PCK community, your family can support the middle school locker program, which began in 2011 when lockers were added as part of the school’s expansion. The funding for the lockers in the middle school came from donations given by PCK families, but there is still an opportunity for you to contribute. A donation of $150 covers the cost of one locker. In honor of your support and generosity, an engraved plate, with your family name, will be placed on one of the lockers and will remain there as a lasting reminder of your family’s contribution to PCK. Locker plates are reserved on a “first come first served” basis. Once they are all full there will be no more.

Please use this link to make your locker donation through The Foundation at PCK:
