Raising Awareness For Bicycle Safety
This summer our PCK neighbor, Chuck Vogel, was killed while riding his bike near our school. Bicycle Colorado set a white “ghost bike” near the corner of Pine Drive and Centennial Drive in recognition of this tragedy. Skyler Stewart, one of our 8th grade students, asked if we could hold a fundraiser to support Bicycle Colorado and help raise awareness around bike safety issues in memory of Mr. Vogel.
Next Thursday, September 26, students may participate in an optional dress down day fundraiser. They may dress down in exchange for a donation of $1 or more. Additionally, students may challenge PCK staff members in competitions at the Fall Festival next Saturday. Staff will be on hand to do plank, hula hoop, tree pose, egg walk, and balancing a book on the head challenges for $1 each. All money collected from the dress down day and the staff challenges at the Fall Festival will be donated to Bicycle Colorado in honor of Mr. Vogel.
Don’t Miss The Upcoming Candidate Forum
During Back-to-School Night, Mrs. Aplin mentioned a new organization called The Alliance of Douglas County Charter Schools, or ‘The Alliance’ for short. It is important for charter parents to stay informed about issues pertaining to charter schools in our state, and local changes that could impact our school in Douglas County. The Alliance is hosting a candidate forum on October 10 at the Parker Performing Arts school. This is an excellent way to meet the candidates running for the Douglas County School Board. All candidates will be on hand to answer questions of specific interest to charter parents. Please click here to RSVP for this important event. You can also submit a question you would like the candidates to address.

Can You Help In Our New Science Lab?
Our new elementary science lab is a big hit with our students. If you would like to get involved, there are several ways you can help.
Our live plants and animals need caring for, so if you’d like to help in this way, you can volunteer for Science Lab Care.
Science can be messy, so we need help with Science Lab Laundry
If you are knowledgeable about sprinklers or irrigation, please contact our elementary science teacher, Misty Jenkins. We need some irrigation in our lab. Thanks!
Congratulations, Ragnar Runners!
A team of PCK staff members ran in last weekend’s Ragnar Relay from Castle Rock to Ft. Collins. Highlights of the run included Castlewood Canyon, Chatfield Farm, Dinosaur Ridge, and Red Rocks. The race went over night with each runner completing three legs of the relay. Congratulations to Mrs. Eckert, Mr. Robbins, Miss Pieseski, Mrs. Harper, Mrs. Obregon, and her son, Juan Obregon, on a great run. You make us PCK Proud!
